As a leading saxophonist, clarinettist, singer and entertainer, it is safe to say that Petr KROUTIL is one of the most distinctive and charismatic jazz musicians in the Czech Republic. He has been immersed in music since the age of six.
After graduating from the Conservatory of Jaroslav Jezek and studying at the prestigious Berklee College Of Music in Boston, Petr travelled to Nepal to spend two years studying and practicing the Indian Bamboo Flute at Kathmandu University.
For over 4 years, Petr Kroutil has starred in the original Prague Syncopated Orchestra alongside the renowned Ondrej Havelka.
He later co-founded the big band Prague Swing Orchestra, where he worked and performed for seven years as a soloist. In the Czech Republic and even abroad, Petr is widely known as Danny Smiřický of the TV series The Swell Season by Josef Skvorecky.
Peter is also the only Czech musician who played at the London 2012 Olympic opening ceremony. Now, for the sixth year in a row, the Petr Kroutil Orchestra are performing with a permanent cast made up of – Ondrej Kabrna (piano, keyboards), Vitek Svec (bass), Michal Hejna (drums), Imran Mussa Zangi (percussion) and Petr Kroutil (saxophone, clarinet, vocals, flute).
This group of outstanding musicians perform spontaneous and joyful pop jazz shows, which attract both die hard jazz fans and those not so familiar with the genre.
In 2016 Petr started ambitious project with his new big band Original Vintage Orchestra, performing jazz music of 20´s and 30´s as well as new pop songs arranged in the style.
Petr is producer, bandleader, arranger and soloist for this big band.
